About FFTA Membership

FFTA partners with child welfare, mental health, and other human service organizations to amplify their impact.  Our members continue to expand and diversify their support for children, families, and communities in new and innovative ways. As the needs of families and communities evolve, the FFTA Community’s focus grows alongside them.

We continue to expand support to help organizations meet the moment and navigate some of the most pressing challenges facing the human services sector—including workforce recruitment and retention pressures, shifting policy and funding environments, operational complexities, and emerging community needs. Through connection, collaboration, and shared learning, FFTA also helps members anticipate challenges before they arrive and prepare for what’s next.

FFTA actively walks alongside members and national partners by facilitating conversations, sharing strategies and resources, elevating promising practices, and advocating for solutions that strengthen organizations, communities, and the well-being of families.

24 FFTA State Chapters

Chapters bring together members who share common challenges, opportunities, and goals, creating space for meaningful connection, collaboration, and impact. Through Chapters, you will be connected with members to exchange ideas, share promising practices, strengthen leadership skills, and work alongside peers who understand their unique context and experiences.

Led by volunteers and supported by the FFTA staff team, these groups help unify local voices and inform national conversations, ensuring local impact is understood when public policy decisions are being made. These groups are strongest when they reflect the full spectrum of voices in our community, grounded in compassion, inclusivity, and the belief that we find better solutions when we collaborate and lead together

What Our Members Are Saying

  • “Being part of the FFTA community gives Sevita a real-time policy “early warning system” and a trusted space to make sense of it. Through FFTA briefings and discussions, our team stays ahead of federal and state developments that directly affect the children, families, and foster caregivers we serve—such as the federal shutdown, changes to the Child Tax Credit, and threats to programs like WIC, SNAP, Head Start, school meals, housing vouchers, and TANF. Just as importantly, FFTA connects us to a network of peer organizations and national advocates who are working collectively to protect and strengthen the child- and family-serving system, which amplifies Sevita’s voice and helps us align our internal strategy with broader, child-centered policy solutions.”

    - Sevita, Government Relations Director, Stephanie Lynch

  • “Being a member of the FFTA Community is like finding a secret door in the bookcase. You step through into a vast room full of information, collaboration, resources, thought partnership, camaraderie, and encouragement. FFTA provides an outrigger of stability in rough seas and a community of joy, purpose, and celebration during the quieter moments.”

    - A Better Way, President & CEO, David Channer

  • "The most impactful benefit we receive from FFTA is their Program Standards for Family Treatment Care. These standards have guided our continuous improvements and were instrumental in restructuring our foster care program after the pandemic. The Adult & Child Health Therapeutic Foster Care program shares the core values and principles of Treatment Family Care, striving to do 'whatever it takes' to maximize a young person’s opportunities for success. Additionally, FFTA provides wonderful educational opportunities. We attend the annual conference as well as various webinars. The updates on federal legislation are crucial and help guide how we advocate for our work."

    - Adult & Child Health, President & Indiana Region Chief Medical Officer,  Dr. Christine Negendank

  • “Our relationship with FFTA has allowed us to remain current on best practices around treatment, while also learning about new ideas and interventions that are being developed to keep families together. FFTA’s work in the areas of advocacy and public policy only makes our relationship more beneficial, and more critical to us in the work we do.”
