Supporting Kinship: A Family-Centered Program Model for Effective Work with Relative Caregivers


Now more than ever, there is demand for agencies who can work effectively to support children, youth and caregivers in kinship care. Designed for both public and private child welfare professionals, this workshop highlights promising family finding, engagement and kinship practices achieved through strong private/public partnerships. The workshop will be particularly useful for agencies wishing to expand or develop internal competencies to work with kinship families. The presenters will provide practical tips for building private/public partnerships that lead to better outcomes for children in kinship care.

Presenters:
Beverly Johnson, LCSW, Chief Administrative Officer. As Chief Administrative Officer of Lilliput Families, Beverly Johnson, LCSW, leads a team of Program Directors and staff serving thousands of children and families in kinship, foster, and adoption services in twelve sites throughout the Northern California region. Beverly has led teams in the implementation of many of the agency’s programs and services that include family finding and engagement, kinship support, and permanency planning. Beverly is passionate about maintaining children’s connections and supporting kinship care. Licensed in Clinical Social Work for nearly 20 years, Beverly has conducted trainings and consulted on effective practice methods in kinship care. She holds a MSW from the University of Washington, has served as a board member for the Family-Focused Treatment Association since 2014.
