Is it “Bad Behavior” or a Brain Issue?

Science has now illustrated that trauma has an effect on the structure and function of the brain. All though we as child welfare workers are trained to hold children accountable for their actions, we often find they are incapable of this accountability over the long run. Could the answers to this puzzle be in the study of brain function? Join us to find out how to heal the brain first, then witness the improved behavior.

Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to identify the brain’s adaptive responses to stress.
2. Participants will learn to use Present Moment Parenting as a tool for healing over-reactive brains and preventing outbursts.
3. Participants will learn how to watch for successes and effectively feed them back to children, increasing desired behaviors and connections with caregivers.
