Why Do People Become Foster Parents?

There are a number of reasons why individuals choose to become foster parents. Often it is to help a family member. Other reasons to foster include helping children, giving back to the community or taking a first step towards adoption. Others are introduced to foster parenting by friends and family members who say what a rewarding experience it is. While foster parents say that financial assistance is helpful, it is not typically one of the reasons that they choose to foster.
