Newspapers & Magazines

Newspapers and Magazines can be an efficient way to get out your message to potential Treatment Foster Parents, potential purchasers of your service and possible donors. You could go the route of purchasing newspaper advertisements in the “help wanted” section of the paper to seek potential Treatment Foster Parents. Many agencies use this strategy. You could also purchase space in another section of the newspaper by the page, ½ page, ¼ page, etc. Many agencies do this to gain attention for an event, or even to catch the attention of potential Treatment Foster Parents. There are people at the newspaper who help you purchase these and do the layout according to what you want the ad to look like. Purchased advertisements have the benefit of having a definite place in the newspaper and a predictable time that it will run, both of which YOU choose. Service agencies can often get a discount to run such advertisements. The down side of going this route to get your message in the newspaper, of course, is that there is a charge to do this.

A less predictable, but free, way to get your message in the newspaper is to use OpEds, human interest stories or letters to the editor. When you purchase newspaper space, a professional will guide you through the process and design your ad. We will spend time highlighting the other ways, therefore, in this briefcase. Please send your ideas, comments and articles printed by the newspaper so that we can add them here to benefit all of us! Send them to ffta@ffta.org.
