YOU can educate your Governor and Mayor about Treatment Foster Care. YOU are the expert in this area. Your Governor and Mayor cannot be expected to have a real understanding of Treatment Foster Care and the challenges in the field until YOU have made efforts at providing the first-hand knowledge that you possess.
YOU can join with other Treatment Foster Care providers and get a plan for this education of elected officials. Together you can make a difference for kids. It will be an on-going process, so meet with your colleagues now and develop a plan…on-going…to benefit kids.
Ask your Governor and Mayor to encourage others to join efforts at highlighting both the “heroes” who are currently serving as Treatment Foster Parents and …recognize the need for more “heroes.” YOUR efforts will make a difference.
Invite elected officials to your agency…a picture is worth a thousand words. Develop a personal relationship. We have posted sample letters from “May is Foster Care Month” which you can tailor for use just before or after a personal contact.
