Essays by Our Youth in Care

In 2004 the Foster Family-based Treatment Association and Therapeutic Programs, Inc., Montgomery, Alabama, sponsored an essay contest for youth that are served by FFTA member agencies.

Children and youth in care, ages 7 and up, were invited to write essays on a variety of topics. Agency staff and foster parents are encouraged to share these essays with youth in care, who will likely relate to these writer’s stories.

Special thanks to Therapeutic Programs, Inc. for sponsoring the prize money for the winners of the contest. And, most importantly, thanks to all of the children and youth that participated in the contest. We applaud you for expressing your feelings and writing about your experiences.
