FFTA Conference

FFTA 24th Annual Conference on Treatment Foster Care
Being the Light at the End of the Tunnel
August 1-4, 2010
National Harbor, MD (just minutes away from Washington, DC)

Things to do in National Harbor & Washington, DC

National Harbor is a spectacular urban-waterfront community, which features restaurants for every budget, shopping, entertainment, and outdoor recreation. It's just minutes away from Washington , DC; Old Town Alexandria, Virginia; and other interesting sites. You will never run out of things to do here; whether you enjoy sightseeing in our nation's capitol or taking a sailboat or kayak out onto the Potomac River , there is something for everyone. In fact, you'll want to plan a family vacation around the conference because the Gaylord National® Resort & Convention Center is offering an unbeatable room rate and there is plenty to keep the kids busy too.

Getting around without a car is easy to do. Take a water taxi to Old Town Alexandria or Georgetown , hop on a shuttle to DC, or access the Metrorail. If you want to take in the sites of National Harbor by bike or Jet Ski, you can rent one right next to the hotel.

If you'd prefer to relax, stroll down the mile-long waterfront path and enjoy public art displays. On Friday nights and Saturday afternoons in the summer, National Harbor hosts free concerts, and on Sunday nights, free movies.

Don't leave before paying a visit to DC. If you've been to the Smithsonian and all of the National Monuments, try something new, such as the International Spy Museum , the Newseum, or view the latest exhibits at the National Gallery of Art. If you're a baseball fan, see the Washington Nationals play the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, August 1st .

The closest airport to National Harbor is Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Baltimore Washington International Airport, (BWI) are both approximately 40 minutes away. Avoid the hassle of airport security, and consider taking the train. Amtrak travels to Washington, DC from many cities around the country.
