Things to do in Nashville

Nearly two centuries ago, Nashville gained its reputation as a musical destination and eventually earned its name as Music City ! From frontier fiddlers, to the Grand Ole Opry, to RCA Victor, to record-pressing plants, from gospel music tunes and down-home Southern music, to Elvis Pressley and Roy Orbison… Nashville is legendary. This year you, too, can enjoy in the reverie and participate in all that Nashville has to offer: history, concerts, dancing, dining, shopping, sports, recreation, and local attractions.

When arriving in Nashville, purchase a Gray Line Trolley ticket in the airport on the Ground Transportation Level for $20 (round-trip) to arrive at your hotel within 30 minutes. Reservations are not required and trolleys depart every 15 minutes from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Tickets for trolley tours can also be purchased by visiting http://www.graylinenashville.com/page.cfm?ID=1337 or by calling (615) 275-1180.

With so much to do and so little time, The Grand Ole Opry has defined the history of country music for generations and a visit to Nashville would not be complete without a show or tour, which will provide Nashville's rich history and a walk down music's memory lane. The Music City Walk of Fame , located along Music Mile, and the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum are a must! If music is not your “thing,” the Adventure Science Center has recently undergone a $20 million renovation and features one of the nation's premier planetariums. The Frist Center for the Visual Arts and the Andy Warhol Gallery at Vanderbilt both feature outstanding art exhibits. If children are traveling with you, the six-lane water slide at Nashville Shores and Nashville Zoo at Grassmere will provide an afternoon of childhood excitement. If shopping is your forte, explore the shopping at Green Hills or the well-known retailers of The Hill Center .

Two Visitor Information Centers will help to consolidate your options with a prioritized list of scheduled activities available during your stay. Concert and attraction schedules and tickets are available by visiting http://www.visitmusiccity.com . We look forward to seeing you in Nashville!
